Graduate Studies

GESI offers two MA-programmes and related PhD-training in the fields of Global Studies and European Studies. Neither are disciplinary in the traditional sense, rather combine knowledge and methods from a broad range of classical disciplines opening themselves towards the study of Globalisation and Europeanisation, such as history, various area studies, geography, economics, legal studies, sociology, political sciences, cultural studies, and religious studies.

What makes the Institute unique is not only its highly integrative approach privileging large-scale comparisons and the study of cross-cultural interaction but also its international atmosphere with programmes partnering with universities around the globe and attracting students from all parts of the world.

The following pages give the necessary insights into the organisation of study at GESI but also a guide to practical aspects of studying in Leipzig based upon the experiences of those who have undertaken GESI's graduate training.
