International Organizations and Collaboration

Due of its cooperation with scholars and institutions outside of Germany, GESI contributes to various international activities and associations. It serves as headquarter for two networks, European Network in Universal and Global History (ENIUGH) and Network of Global and World History Organisations (NOGWHISTO). GESI hosts and organizes regularly large conferences that invite participants from around the world to transcend the national as well as European focus which still shape much of the academic discussions. Further members of the GESI edit book series and other serial publications, which are also meant to underpin the transnationalisation of the humanities and social sciences.


GESI works on the basis of bilateral agreements with partners throughout the world and participates in multilateral organizations, some European and others further afield.

Bilateral agreements on the exchange of graduate students exist with Duke University, Macquarie University, University of California at Santa Barbara, Dalhousie University, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Fudan University, Stellenbosch University, University of Vienna, and University of Wroclaw.
In preparation are: University of Yaoundé I, Otego University, University of Hermosillo, and University of Addis Ababa.
